THE “MOST” VERSES

The Bible is the most important book in the world. Here are some awesome things you need to know about this important book- 66 Books. 39 in OT. 27 in NT. / OT: 17 Historical Books, 5 Poetical, 17 Prophetical. 17 divided into 5, 12 (5 books of Moses, 12 others. 5 Major Prophets, 12 minor Prophets).

The “12” in each group are 9 written before exile / 3 written after exile (Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther) ( Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi).

There are 31,101 verses in the Bible. The Old Testament contains 23,144 verses and the New Testament contains 7,957. The shortest verse in the Bible is John 11:35- Jesus Wept. (The shortest verse in the Old Testament is I Chron 1:25 Eber, Peleg, Reu.). The longest verse in the Bible is Esther 8:9 (90 words).

Ezra 7:21 is a verse containing every letter in the alphabet except J. Daniel 4:37 contains every letter of the alphabet except Q. Several words only occur once in all the Bible verses: Eternity (Is 57:15), Reverend (Ps 111:9), Grandmother (I Tim 1:5), Gnat (Matt 23:24), and Easter (Acts 12:4) [Christmas is not in the Bible].

  1. MOST ASTONISHING VERSE- (An Astonishing verse is Isaiah 45:7 where God says, “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things”).[God is 1 God, with 2 “sides”, manifested in 3 persons, and shown by 4 faces { As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle Ezekiel 1:10 represented by the 4 Gospels-Matthew: Jesus as King {Lion}, Mark: Jesus as Servant {Ox}, Luke: Jesus as Man, John: Jesus as God {eagle}).
But the most astonishing verse to me is (Romans 9:3) For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
It is almost beyond my comprehension to hear Paul say He would accept eternal separation from God in order to save the people of Israel! His heart had become “God’s heart”. How much do YOU love a lost and dying world?
  2. MOST FAMILIAR VERSE- (John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    1. SOURCE of our help: For God
    2. MOTIVATION for our help: So loved the world.
    3. DEMONSTRATION: that He Gave His only begotten Son
    4. APPLICATION: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish.
    5. SALVATION: but have everlasting life
Remember- No matter how delicious food looks; you will starve if you do not eat!
  3. THE MOST COMFORTING VERSE-
    1. In Disaster: (Romans 8:28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
    2. In Death: (Psalms 23:4) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Protected from the “terror” of Death by His Rod and Supported during the “time” of death by His Staff).
  4. MOST MOTIVATING VERSE-
    1. For Saints: (Ezekiel 33:6) if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. I am not called to do everything but I am required to do something!
    2. For Sinners: (Ezekiel 33:4) Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. Ignoring God’s warning is a risky business- He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29:1).
  5. THE MOST BASIC VERSE: Although every verse (and every word) of the Bible is important, there is one verse that contains a truth so vital until the teaching of this verse has dominated my life and work for the past 57 years- He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36).

It is difficult to make it any more simple or plain than that. Those who believe (cling to, rely on, trust in) Jesus Christ have everlasting life. Those who trust in anything else; or nothing at all, abide under the wrath of God. I would say that truth is important enough for me to spend a life time sharing it with others.

The Most Excuse Killing Verse:

  1. If you Doubt God CAN and WILL save someone like you: (Romans 5:8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. When you were at your worst God was at His best!
  2. If you do not think you can “hold out”: As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12).

What is the MOST important thing in your life? Use the “Fire Test” If you wake up with your house on fire and you can only save one thing, what would it be? I tell my wife to grab my computer bag and run (She is the most important thing; grabbing my computer is nice but it gets her to focus on ONE thing instead of delaying while she decides).

The most important thing that can happen in your life is for you to decide to come to Christ for Salvation. NOTHING is more important.
